I got this Berkshire Blanket Weighted Heating Pad because I wanted a full-size heating pad that could cover my entire back and shoulders at once. I have a different Berkshire Blanket Shoulder Heating Pad that I really like but it doesn’t cover my entire back. Now that I’ve had a chance to test out this one, I’ve been pleasantly surprised by the quality and design of it. My husband tried it and he loves it, too.* Style and Appearance: The heating pad has a clean, modern look and a large rectangular shape. I chose the navy and it’s a gorgeous color. It feels like a spa-grade product, designed for comfort and relaxation.* Fabric and Material: The fabric is very soft, almost velvety, and feels cozy from the moment you put it on. It has no weird odors. The weighted design, filled with evenly distributed glass beads, gives it just the right weight to rest securely against your body without feeling super-heavy or restrictive.* Weight and Comfort: The weight feels like a gentle hug. It basically has a grounding or calming effect. It stays in place nicely on your shoulders or back without needing to be adjusted constantly.* Size and Coverage: The 18 x 33-inch size provides full coverage for your back and shoulders. The weighted aspect makes this more useful than a regular one.
I have an older heat pad, nothing fancy, it is slightly smaller (12″) in one dimension and much smaller in the other compared to this one.Unlike my previous one, the weight of this one allows it to “sit” in place and closely hug the surrounding the area with the help of gravity. My previous one, being non-weighted and stiffer, wouldn’t hug your body like this one does when used “over” the area.When used behind/on top of, this one has a more substance so it feels say more like a thick fleece than something wrapped in a thin cover.I used it on 3 to test it out and put it over my abdomen and fell asleep. I think 2-3 is about a “low” in a subaru car seat and 4/5 would be a “high”. This thing goes to 10 which is awesome but I won’t be trying it that hot.Overall, this thing is going to be great when I have back pains, knee pains, muscle pains, etc. I also used it as a warmer for my newborn’s changing station. We have a keekaroo and its somewhat cold for a newborn. We warm it up with this unit for some minutes and then remove it and wake her up to be changed.I definitely recommend this weighted version over a regular heat pad for sure.

Can’t Go Back After Using a Weighted Heating Pad
I was pretty surprised by the weight of the box when this got delivered, but it’s not as heavy when you use it as it seems in the box. Like everything else Berkshire Blanket I own, the fabric is really soft. The heating pad is very big at 33 inches long. The non quilted side is the heated side. The box has a picture of a different color, but I did receive the dark blue like I ordered. The cord is a good length and I really like that you can extend the timer to 3 hours. The heat goes up to level 10 which I’ve never seen on a heated blanket or pad and I’m not sure I’ll ever need to go up that high. My husband has been having back pain lately and I think he’ll be stealing this from me to relax his muscles. I was hesitant about the weight at first but I think it’s really nice to have some pressure holding the heat to you because my old heating pad wouldn’t stay well if I had to wrap my knee or foot in it. Overall, I’m really impressed with this heating pad and I’m not sure I can go back to regular ones after using it!

An upgrade to my old heating pad
My heating pad was very old and I felt that it was getting much too hot. After all, I want heat on my muscles, but not burns on my skin. I decided it was time for an upgrade and selected this one. This one warms up quickly without being too hot. The fabric is soft against my skin and I like that there is a long cord. I also appreciate that there is an automatic shut off since I often fall asleep with the heating pad on. I’m a little on the fence about the weighted part. While it was easy to put onto my back, I struggled to get it into position on my shoulder. Because of the weight, it seems more difficult to mold into place. I think the weight is supposed to help transfer the heat and make it more comfortable to use. I will continue to use this one and see if I can get used to this heavier heating pad. Regardless, this is a significant upgrade from my old model and does a good job of warming up my aching muscles.
