Great if you can’t get ice packs
This is an interesting device. It’s basically just a rechargeable peltier heater/cooler. For anyone unfamiliar with those, they’re also called thermoelectric heat pumps. They use electricity to move heat from one side of a metal plate to the other, based on polarity. So if you hook it up one way, the top gets cold and the bottom gets hot. Hooked up the other way, the bottom gets cold and the top gets hot. These are quite useful little devices, as they can provide cooling without requiring a full vapor-compression setup. They’re frequently used in portable devices such as electric coolers or micro-refrigerators.That said, it’s a bit clunky for this purpose. It does what it’s supposed to, and heats or cools whatever it is strapped to. However, it’s rather large, heavy, and loud. If you’re in a situation where you don’t have access to ice, this may be a wonderful item. However, if you have ice packs available to you, that will be far more convenient. This is large and unwieldy, and while effective, it’s inconvenient enough that I would only use it as a fallback if I couldn’t get icepacks for whatever reason. It does work, and does what it’s supposed to do, it’s just inferior to ice packs in any situation where they’re available.

This one was a miss for me. Definitely needs some improvements.
I had high hopes for this machine, especially since I deal with ongoing muscle soreness and occasional joint pain from age and arthritis. While it does have some positives, overall, I feel like it’s a bit of a mixed bag.First, the heating feature works really well. It warms up quickly and maintains a steady, soothing temperature. If you’re mainly looking for a heating solution, this part is actually impressive and comfortable to use. However, the cooling feature falls flat. It just doesn’t get cold enough to be effective, especially if you’re expecting relief similar to a traditional ice pack. I was disappointed with how underwhelming the cold therapy was, especially given the price point.Another thing to note is that the size and weight of the unit make it kind of inconvenient to use. It’s bulkier than I expected, which limits mobility while using it. It’s not something you can throw on and keep moving around the house with. It is also heavy so you’ll pretty much need to stay seated and still. That said, the instructions were clear and detailed, so setup wasn’t a problem, and it’s fairly easy to operate once it’s up and running. The battery life is good and the material seems to be good quality and durable. In the end, while the idea is great, I honestly feel like a couple of hot and cold gel packs from the store would be easier to use, more versatile, and way cheaper. If you’re looking for something simple and effective, this might not be worth the extra money.

Good idea, poorly executed
This device is rechargeable and can be used in situations where there is not a refrigerator with an ice pack in it, or an electrical plug for a heating pad. There are some uses where the device might be ideal. It might be handy while camping or traveling, for example. However, regularly, I don’t think this item will be useful. It comes with straps for strapping to various parts of your body. However, it weighs so much that applying it to a sore area doesn’t work. The buttons are difficult to use. There are three levels of heating and three levels of cooling, plus one that is called contrast therapy. I am not able to figure out how to work the contrast therapy level, but I am assuming that it somehow combines heat and cold at the same time, or alternately. The instructions are not clear. The unit is quite small, so it is only good for targeted heating or cooling. The metal surface that goes against your skin is flat, so it’s difficult to use on curved areas. One side of the unit is flat and the other side of the unit is the fan. The fan is noisy and puts off heat. The user manual has a list of Contradictions, a list of Warnings and a list of Precautions. One of the precautions reads: “Portable and mobile Radio Frequency Communication Equipment can be affected by this device.” This could be Wi-fi or Bluetooth, for example.I won’t be using this device. It might be something of use for someone like a personal trainer to have in their bag of tricks if someone needs ice quickly. For general use, though, I give it thumbs down.
