Too many buttons and options
I’ve wanted a sunrise alarm clock for a long time and I’m happy to finally have one, but this alarm clock is really complicated. There are buttons on the device, and many more buttons on a remote that requires you to install 2 AA batteries (not included). Many functions can be accessed only through remote use. The manufacturer has a YouTube channel accessible through the user manual, for play-by-play set up videos, which some users will find very helpful. This change any alarm function, I found I have to cycle through all the settings. If I stall, it sends me back to the beginning and I have to start over.I wish the snooze tap feature worked on the light and not just the sound alarm.I wish the overall button design was simpler.I wish the sunrise got even brighter than it does; it didn’t wake me up the morning I was asleep facing away from my night stand.I like the Bluetooth connectivity for listening to my own sleep tracks, and could do without most of the sounds they included. A simple white noise option is all I’m really looking for from a device like this.

Good variety
There’s I believe 35 different sounds. Half I would use, the other half not so much. You can dim the light or have It bright. Good options

Good supplement to a SAD treatment Regimen
Context It is estimated that 5% to 10% of our population suffers from a very debilitating Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD) and 10% to 15% experiencing mild episodes. That is the primary reason we acquired this product. SAD symptoms are impacted by both genetics and geography with increased incidence of the disorder with increasing latitude. In our family, the effects can be severe during the gloomy winter months with the accompanying seasonally short days. Light therapy and medication are the usual regimen for treating SAD symptoms and these types of artificial sunrise clocks have also proven helpful. The idea is to artificially create the effects of a sunrise to help ease one awakening into an otherwise darkened morning.DOCUMENTATION: On the box and on the Amazon website, this device is billed as a white noise machine. OK, but our interest is in the SAD artificial sunrise capabilities. The documentation is clear, well written and well-illustrated – although the faint contrast in some of the graphics makes it challenging to read without very bright lighting.OPERATION AND USE: Setting up this device is best done with the remote that comes with it (2 AAA batteries – you provide them). While the documentation is good, it will take some patience and experimentation to pull it all together. Here are some of the salient features:• The device can be set up manually (a challenge) or automatically via Bluetooth. You will have to guess which Bluetooth signal to pair with if you have several floating about.• Setting up the time and alarms are easy enough. There are 2 alarms, and each can be set for weekdays, weekends, or all 7 days• There are a variety of colored lighting effects – many of them obnoxious -but our interest was only in the simulated sunrise. You must cycle through the effects to find it. We set the sunrise to precede the alarm by about 25 minutes – which is a realistic interval between dawn and full sun at our latitude. The gradual effect of the sun rise flows from a dull-red to a very bright daylight which illuminates the whole room. The intensity and brightness of the lighting and text displays on the clock are adjustable.• There are also 36 different alarm sounds to cycle through. Those range from soothing music to winds, rains, dripping water, animal sounds squawking birds, chirping bugs, roaring flames – or nothing – just silence. Some are quite annoying; others very soothing. You can also play music from another device via a Bluetooth connection.• So, for our alarm, we set the clock to 24-hour time, set the alarm to come on before local sunrise, selected some soothing music, arranged for the artificial sunset to start about 25 minutes before the alarm activates. And we then hope this artificial sunset will have a therapeutic effect. Time will determine its effectiveness as part of a SAD treatment regimen as the fall and winter seasons progress.OVERALL: We’re undecided as to whether this white noise generator / artificial sunrise alarm clock will be helpful as part of an overall SAD treatment regimen during the upcoming gloomy months, but in the meantime, it is a darn good alarm clock.

Manual may be tough to read for many seniors
I found setup easy in some parts and frustrating in others. They actually gave a manual that a senior could mostly read, but when it came to the keys you had to push, it looked like tiny little washed out emojis and was very hard to discern exactly what button they meant. You only get 5 seconds to set up each part, so it’s difficult for me, because at the very least I have to have time to pick up the magnifying glass, find my place again, and change the setting. It usually goes off before I’m ready and I have to start again. Or I could just type up the instructions in big letters and draw in the keys, but come on… I was excited about the idea of a sleep timer, which I didn’t expect. I turned on the white noise, but then saw that the sleep timer only goes up to 90 minutes. I’d prefer a setting that allows it to continue all night, but I suppose it presented a conflict with the alarm. Do I like this clock? Emphatically yes. Do I like how it’s set up? Absolutely not. But if you can get it set up just like you want, having spent 30 minutes or more, and never need to change it, super. I would also suggest that the remote keys have titles under them or at least include a quick start menu for when I need to make changes. I doubt if I will want to be looking for the manual every time.

Wakes me up
This alarm clock does work well, instructions are a little vague, there is a QR code, it takes you to a YouTube channel with three videos that show you how to operate the device, very helpful, I did get the Bluetooth function to work, and played some of my music from my mobile device to it, sounds pretty good, it’s not the loudest speaker, but it wakes me up, if you’re a deep sleeper, it may not wake you up, all the sounds that are programmed into it work, the lighting function works as advertised, it’s a fun little device.
